hi. i’m angela.

I began my journey with bellydance in 2012 in Halifax under the tutelage of Monique Ryan and Laura Selenzi at Serpentine Studios. In 2014, I moved to Hamilton and began studying with renowned Modern Fusion bellydancer Audra Simmons at The Dark Side Studio in Toronto. From 2015 to 2017, I performed regularly with the studio’s student troupe, and in January 2017 I joined Lavish Dance Company, the professional troupe at The Dark Side Studio.

I perform as a soloist, and as a member of Lavish Dance Company across Southern Ontario at a variety of shows, including the monthly show Glitter hosted by Eshe Yildiz. International performances include The Tribal Massive Showcase in Las Vegas. In 2019 I was granted the Hamilton Arts Award for Emerging Artist in the Performing Arts category by the Hamilton Arts Council.

Currently, I teach technical and choreographic workshops in my signature contemporary style at Mahasti – The Bellydance Emporium in Hamilton. I have also taught workshops on a number of topics including creating contrast and dynamic movement, sharing vulnerability, compelling arms as well as developing a personal drilling practice which were attended by professional dancers from across southern Ontario. I have also taught workshops at local highschools, breweries and festivals. Contact me if you are interested in having me perform or teach at your event!
