#IAmStillAnArtist Project
The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for all of us, and artists have been no exception. With galleries, studios, and stages shut down for most of the past two years, we’ve lost opportunities, income, connections to our community, and sometimes even our sense of self.
Despite all these challenges, Hamilton artists have kept going. We are still writing, drawing, painting, dancing, singing, performing, creating, making. We are still here. We are still artists.
Industry has created a series of public-facing video installations featuring Hamilton artists to highlight the perseverance of our city’s artists. Earlier this fall, we held an open call to the city’s artists asking them “What does IAmStillAnArtist mean to you?” After receiving over 80 applications, a jury chose 15 to participate in the campaign. Click on their images above to learn more about these inspiring artists.
The videos will be installed throughout Hamilton this fall/winter. Check out the dates and locations below, and stay tuned for more opportunities to catch the videos:
- November 25th – 30th: The Art Gallery of Hamilton
- December 4th: Light Up The Night at the Cotton Factory
Many thanks to our partners Factory Media Centre, Art Gallery of Hamilton, Theatre Aquarius, Farside, Vintage Coffee Roasters, and the Cotton Factory for their support of this project.
