Currently, Angela teaches technical and choreographic workshops in her signature contemporary style at Mahasti – The Creative Emporium in Hamilton. She has also taught workshops on a number of topics including creating contrast and dynamic movement, sharing vulnerability, compelling arms as well as developing a personal drilling practice which were attended by professional dancers from across southern Ontario.

Angela Josephine

Angela Josephine began her journey with bellydance in 2012 in Halifax under the tutelage of Monique Ryan and Laura Selenzi at Serpentine Studios. In 2014, she moved to Hamilton and began studying with renowned Modern Fusion bellydancer Audra Simmons at The Dark Side Studio in Toronto. From 2015 to 2017, she performed regularly with the studio’s student troupe, and in January 2017 she joined Lavish Dance Company, the professional troupe at The Dark Side Studio.

 

Angela performs across Southern Ontario at a variety of shows, including the monthly show Glitter hosted by Eshe Yildiz, Supercrawl, Winterfest and Nuit Blanche. International performances include The Mega Massive Showcase in Las Vegas. Online performances of note include Kami Liddle’s Lockdown Dance Party,  Love Letters 2 hosted by Danielle Hutton and [un]WRAP: Global Citizenship in Motion Show hosted by CU Boulder. Angela also produced the international online show Connections which boasted a star studded cast of over 30 artists. In 2019 she was granted the Hamilton Arts Award for Emerging Artist in the Performing Arts category by the Hamilton Arts Council.
